Feeding guide

Cold blooded animals such as fish vary in their food requirements dependent on their size and their metabolic rate. The metabolic rate varies with water temperature so in Summer the requirement to feed can be higher than in Winter by many factors. It is therefore advised that feeding is done according to the response of the fish to the amount of food given. If the fish consume the food rapidly (within 5 minutes) they may be given more. Stop feeding when they do not clear the food in a short period. This is the amount which is acceptable to the fish and future feeds should be approximately that amount, allowing for the variation in water temperatures. Do not feed or feed moderately when fish are inactive in the winter season. Never over-feed because this can lead to unsightly debris and smelly water as the food decays and risks polluting the pond or tank and poisoning the fish and other aquatic animals. Remove uneaten pellets. Children should be supervised when feeding. Store in a cool dry place.
